APS Technology has developed a Universal Translator (uTrans) module that supports bus line communications for several of the downhole communication protocols that are widely in use in the market today. The use of a uTrans allows MWD service providers the ability to easily add the APS WPR LWD resistivity sensor on to their existing downhole strings.
The uTrans has also been used to add-on 3rd party Triple Combo logging services and to incorporate other commercially available rotary steerable systems on to the APS “backbone” platform that includes the widely used and reliable APS Technology top mount pulser. This capability allows for tailored solutions that make the most of a MWD service company’s existing assets.
